Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology, Construction and Software sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Basic Resources, Transportation & Logistics and Financial Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.07%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.29%, and the TecDAX index added 1.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p), which rose 1.26% or 1.40 points to trade at 112.60 at the close. Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) added 1.06% or 0.82 points to end at 78.48 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was up 1.03% or 0.840 points to 82.640 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG), which lost 5.75% or 1.570 points to trade at 25.720 in late trade. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) declined 2.55% or 1.00 points to end at 38.28 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) shed 1.34% or 3.00 points to 220.90.
The top performers on the MDAX were Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which rose 3.31% to 70.250, Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was up 2.71% to settle at 37.920 and Gerresheimer AG (BS:GXId) which gained 2.02% to close at 66.695.
The worst performers were Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which was down 7.28% to 10.055 in late trade, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which lost 5.71% to settle at 43.270 and Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which was down 2.57% to 13.08 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which rose 4.87% to 17.560, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was up 3.98% to settle at 122.900 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which gained 3.76% to close at 14.910.
The worst performers were SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which was down 4.33% to 32.00 in late trade, Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which lost 1.62% to settle at 17.570 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 1.40% to 15.850 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 448 to 270 and 76 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.32% to 17.10 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.26% or 3.50 to $1325.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 2.84% or 1.71 to hit $61.83 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 2.58% or 1.64 to trade at $65.25 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.2326, while EUR/GBP fell 0.31% to 0.8888.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 89.98.
