Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Media, Utilities and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Technology, Transportation & Logistics and Food & Beverages sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.02%, while the MDAX index gained 0.25%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which rose 2.08% or 0.185 points to trade at 9.075 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 1.63% or 0.310 points to end at 19.375 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) was up 1.45% or 0.890 points to 62.310 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn), which lost 2.48% or 0.750 points to trade at 29.460 in late trade. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) declined 2.03% or 0.510 points to end at 24.610 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) shed 1.14% or 0.900 points to 78.020.
The top performers on the MDAX were Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which rose 5.71% to 55.500, Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was up 3.13% to settle at 81.780 and Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which gained 2.15% to close at 18.520.
The worst performers were Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was down 2.06% to 116.60 in late trade, Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which lost 1.14% to settle at 12.97 and Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 1.09% to 52.740 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which rose 2.08% to 63.800, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was up 1.82% to settle at 6.435 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which gained 1.53% to close at 146.200.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 1.98% to 138.750 in late trade, GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which lost 1.67% to settle at 13.550 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 1.48% to 42.500 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 384 to 327 and 72 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.10% to 15.06.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.12% or 1.60 to $1301.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.56% or 0.37 to hit $66.47 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $76.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.1789, while EUR/GBP fell 0.31% to 0.8782.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 93.52.
