Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financial Services, Utilities and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.32%, while the MDAX index declined 0.60%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 2.77% or 0.325 points to trade at 12.070 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) added 1.39% or 1.650 points to end at 120.250 and Allianz SE VNA O.N. (DE:ALVG) was up 1.20% or 1.600 points to 134.550 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which lost 3.67% or 0.560 points to trade at 14.710 in late trade. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) declined 3.12% or 1.04 points to end at 32.27 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) shed 2.70% or 2.290 points to 82.540.
The top performers on the MDAX were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which rose 2.38% to 33.940, Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which was up 2.34% to settle at 56.840 and Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which gained 2.19% to close at 30.865.
The worst performers were Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which was down 4.38% to 30.215 in late trade, GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which lost 3.25% to settle at 48.155 and LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which was down 3.19% to 80.790 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 4.86% to 25.700, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was up 1.66% to settle at 43.105 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 0.67% to close at 5.124.
The worst performers were Software AG O.N. (DE:SOWG) which was down 4.39% to 37.175 in late trade, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which lost 1.88% to settle at 40.60 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 1.80% to 34.140 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 510 to 369 and 30 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.53% to 18.53.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.24% or 3.05 to $1266.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.28% or 1.11 to hit $49.80 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.02% or 1.03 to trade at $51.90 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.03% to 1.1201, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8788.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 96.18.
