Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Food & Beverages, Construction and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.04%, while the MDAX index fell 0.62%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG), which rose 1.94% or 1.410 points to trade at 74.180 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 1.90% or 0.365 points to end at 19.590 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was up 1.41% or 0.128 points to 9.220 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Covestro AG (DE:1COV), which lost 2.63% or 1.180 points to trade at 43.660 in late trade. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) declined 2.38% or 1.010 points to end at 41.370 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) shed 1.56% or 0.860 points to 54.180.
The top performers on the MDAX were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which rose 3.65% to 48.260, Puma SE (DE:PUMG) which was up 2.84% to settle at 470.00 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which gained 2.47% to close at 44.040.
The worst performers were Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was down 4.86% to 16.8350 in late trade, Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which lost 4.27% to settle at 45.77 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 3.54% to 74.760 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which rose 18.09% to 31.660, Rational AG (DE:RAAG) which was up 6.55% to settle at 517.00 and SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which gained 4.49% to close at 11.64.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 6.09% to 0.11 in late trade, Tele Columbus AG (DE:TC1n) which lost 5.78% to settle at 3.18 and SGL Carbon SE (DE:SGCG) which was down 4.79% to 6.260 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 394 to 308 and 74 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.09% to 20.09.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.17% or 2.15 to $1247.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.19% or 1.12 to hit $52.27 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.56% or 0.94 to trade at $61.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.1361, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.8992.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 97.093.
