Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer & Cyclical, Financial Services and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.13%, while the MDAX index added 0.47%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which rose 4.90% or 8.25 points to trade at 176.60 at the close. Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) added 3.20% or 2.960 points to end at 95.340 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was up 1.02% or 0.770 points to 75.970 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG), which lost 0.91% or 0.750 points to trade at 81.530 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) declined 0.83% or 0.145 points to end at 17.345 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) shed 0.77% or 0.120 points to 15.555.
The top performers on the MDAX were GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which rose 2.91% to 37.485, Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was up 2.89% to settle at 33.255 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which gained 2.03% to close at 63.190.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was down 1.37% to 36.295 in late trade, Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which lost 0.94% to settle at 51.790 and Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which was down 0.87% to 35.235 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which rose 4.32% to 89.430, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was up 4.08% to settle at 6.487 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which gained 3.46% to close at 11.950.
The worst performers were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was down 2.54% to 59.910 in late trade, United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which gained 0.02% to settle at 47.680 and Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was up 0.04% to 52.320 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 444 to 321 and 25 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.86% to 13.98.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.27% or 3.30 to $1222.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 3.74% or 1.76 to hit $45.31 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 3.16% or 1.57 to trade at $48.04 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.1333, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8769.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 96.11.
