Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Telecoms and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.45%, while the MDAX index added 0.72%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 4.03% or 0.504 points to trade at 13.018 at the close. Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) added 2.92% or 4.95 points to end at 174.45 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) was up 2.67% or 0.405 points to 15.590 in late trade.
Biggest losers included E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which added 0.33% or 0.026 points to trade at 8.018 in late trade. Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) added 0.38% or 0.100 points to end at 26.380 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) gained 0.49% or 1.10 points to 223.60.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which rose 2.93% to 73.100, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was up 2.79% to settle at 80.300 and Gerresheimer AG (BS:GXId) which gained 2.72% to close at 65.948.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 4.45% to 0.38 in late trade, Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which lost 2.55% to settle at 14.890 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) which was down 2.19% to 133.70 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which rose 7.13% to 73.650, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was up 6.36% to settle at 20.060 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 5.17% to close at 14.345.
The worst performers were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 2.49% to 37.25 in late trade, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which lost 1.27% to settle at 10.925 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 0.89% to 111.000 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 615 to 140 and 54 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 28.09% to 28.81.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.89% or 11.70 to $1327.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.32% or 0.78 to hit $59.98 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.92% or 0.58 to trade at $63.37 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.2270, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.8879.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 90.16.
