Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Insurance and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.98% to hit a new 3-month high, while the MDAX index gained 0.68%, and the TecDAX index added 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which rose 2.31% or 0.216 points to trade at 9.576 at the close. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) added 2.13% or 2.40 points to end at 115.30 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) was up 1.98% or 0.560 points to 28.835 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG), which lost 3.28% or 3.19 points to trade at 94.12 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) declined 0.57% or 0.110 points to end at 19.220 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) shed 0.54% or 0.135 points to 25.075.
The top performers on the MDAX were Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which rose 2.32% to 66.750, Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which was up 2.20% to settle at 35.825 and Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which gained 2.03% to close at 38.380.
The worst performers were Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which was down 2.37% to 117.550 in late trade, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which lost 1.90% to settle at 121.30 and Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was down 0.69% to 80.340 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which rose 4.18% to 93.790, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was up 4.06% to settle at 17.950 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 3.66% to close at 20.090.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 2.66% to 9.658 in late trade, Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which lost 1.96% to settle at 13.015 and Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which was down 0.71% to 26.630 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 472 to 269 and 46 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.22% to 11.46.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.14% or 1.84 to $1286.86 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.17% or 0.09 to hit $51.47 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.58% or 0.33 to trade at $56.83 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.1806, while EUR/GBP rose 0.51% to 0.8814.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 93.01.
