Investing.com – France equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Gas & Water sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Construction & Materials, Oil & Gas Producers and Industrials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.55%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.39%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which rose 9.34% or 1.46 points to trade at 17.03 at the close. Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) added 3.75% or 1.96 points to end at 54.20 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was up 1.12% or 0.15 points to 13.95 in late trade.

Biggest losers included STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which lost 5.09% or 0.760 points to trade at 14.170 in late trade. Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) declined 3.56% or 1.20 points to end at 32.36 and Kering SA (PA:PRTP) shed 3.28% or 12.40 points to 365.90.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) which rose 9.34% to 17.03, Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was up 4.80% to settle at 8.478 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) which gained 3.75% to close at 54.20.

The worst performers were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) which was down 5.09% to 14.170 in late trade, Vicat (PA:VCTP) which lost 4.24% to settle at 45.62 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) which was down 3.56% to 32.36 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 329 to 245 and 88 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 15.70.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.30% or 3.70 to $1231.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.56% or 0.39 to hit $69.36 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.39% or 0.31 to trade at $79.74 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.1471, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.8791.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 95.56.
