Investing.com – France equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Technology sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Electronic Equipment, Aerospace & Defense and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.15%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 2.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which rose 3.06% or 0.410 points to trade at 13.830 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 1.66% or 0.20 points to end at 11.97 and Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) was up 1.46% or 0.47 points to 32.71 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Valeo SA (PA:VLOF), which lost 3.40% or 0.97 points to trade at 27.58 in late trade. Total SA (PA:TOTF) declined 2.54% or 1.32 points to end at 50.64 and TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) shed 1.78% or 0.42 points to 23.14.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Technicolor (PA:TCH) which rose 8.95% to 1.230, Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was up 6.57% to settle at 9.122 and Iliad (PA:ILD) which gained 6.65% to close at 109.05.
The worst performers were Nexity (PA:NEXI) which was down 3.73% to 40.74 in late trade, Rexel (PA:RXL) which lost 3.64% to settle at 10.86 and CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was down 2.98% to 2.082 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 340 to 229 and 95 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.26% to 21.86.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.83% or 22.20 to $1234.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.85% or 1.86 to hit $63.45 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 3.46% or 2.61 to trade at $72.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.72% to 1.1394, while EUR/GBP fell 1.05% to 0.8785.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.71% at 96.21.
