Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the REITs, Real Estate and Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX:EFR), which rose 4.14% or 0.44 points to trade at 11.07 at the close. Denison Mines Corp (TSX:DML) added 3.79% or 0.08 points to end at 2.19 and ATS Corporation (TSX:ATS) was up 3.60% or 2.07 points to 59.64 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alamos Gold Inc (TSX:AGI), which lost 3.86% or 0.65 points to trade at 16.18 in late trade. Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX:BHC) declined 2.21% or 0.25 points to end at 11.07 and Telus International Cda Inc (TSX:TIXT) shed 2.18% or 0.23 points to 10.34.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 522 to 427 and 125 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 0.23% to 12.99 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.26% or 5.05 to $1,944.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.80% or 0.72 to hit $90.35 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.36% or 0.34 to trade at $93.64 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.22% to 0.70.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 105.29.
