Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials, Electric Power and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which rose 8.16% or 0.16 points to trade at 2.12 at the close. Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) added 6.56% or 0.36 points to end at 5.85 and Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4) was up 3.92% or 1.86 points to 49.26 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Santander Brasil SA (SA:SANB11), which lost 3.99% or 0.71 points to trade at 17.10 in late trade. Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3) declined 3.33% or 0.27 points to end at 7.84 and CETIP SA - Mercados Organizados (SA:CTIP3) shed 3.27% or 1.35 points to 39.95.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 148 to 140 and 32 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 5.01% to 51.96.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.71% or 9.00 to $1256.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $40.20 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 0.54% or 0.72 to trade at $133.72 .
USD/BRL was down 0.33% to 3.6178, while EUR/BRL fell 0.60% to 4.0837.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 95.02.
