Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which rose 4.46% or 0.85 points to trade at 19.92 at the close. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3) added 3.39% or 1.39 points to end at 42.45 and Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) was up 2.70% or 0.87 points to 33.08 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4), which lost 8.63% or 0.73 points to trade at 7.73 in late trade. Itausa - Investimentos Itau SA (SA:ITSA4) declined 5.88% or 0.80 points to end at 12.81 and Itau Unibanco Banco Holding SA (SA:ITUB4) shed 4.53% or 2.31 points to 48.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 292 to 147 and 24 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.79% to 28.40.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.08% or 1.10 to $1305.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.70% or 0.47 to hit $67.72 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.84% or 1.05 to trade at $123.83 .
USD/BRL was up 1.25% to 3.5514, while EUR/BRL rose 1.43% to 4.2417.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 92.62.
