Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Consumption and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which rose 3.48% or 0.58 points to trade at 17.27 at the close. Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) added 2.65% or 1.41 points to end at 54.71 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) was up 2.44% or 0.46 points to 19.28 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3), which lost 9.75% or 1.55 points to trade at 14.35 in late trade. Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) declined 7.41% or 1.85 points to end at 23.12 and Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3) shed 6.92% or 3.06 points to 41.16.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 228 to 172 and 25 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.67% to 32.18.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.20% or 2.40 to $1223.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.97% or 1.38 to hit $68.75 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.22% or 1.36 to trade at $109.92 .
USD/BRL was up 0.59% to 3.7532, while EUR/BRL rose 0.54% to 4.3908.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 94.28.
