Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3), which rose 2.77% or 0.30 points to trade at 11.14 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 2.08% or 0.78 points to end at 38.30 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA:PETR4) was up 0.96% or 0.15 points to 15.84 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which lost 12.45% or 1.17 points to trade at 8.23 in late trade. Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) declined 5.92% or 1.80 points to end at 28.60 and Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) shed 5.07% or 0.28 points to 5.24.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 302 to 115 and 26 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 9.38% to 31.38 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.23% or 16.00 to $1313.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.90% or 1.47 to hit $52.13 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 2.04% or 2.75 to trade at $131.82 .
USD/BRL was up 1.08% to 3.1588, while EUR/BRL rose 0.20% to 3.7417.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.55% at 92.46.
