Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.15% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3), which rose 7.37% or 2.10 points to trade at 30.60 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 3.64% or 0.80 points to end at 22.80 and CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) was up 2.53% or 0.21 points to 8.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which lost 4.93% or 0.55 points to trade at 10.60 in late trade. Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) declined 3.51% or 1.13 points to end at 31.10 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) shed 3.34% or 0.78 points to 22.59.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 281 to 152 and 30 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 17.59% to 30.01.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.34% or 4.40 to $1316.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.29% or 0.18 to hit $62.23 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 0.68% or 0.80 to trade at $119.08 .
USD/BRL was up 0.17% to 3.2854, while EUR/BRL rose 0.60% to 4.0548.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 89.45.
