Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Consumption and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.98%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which rose 5.39% or 0.82 points to trade at 16.02 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) added 4.08% or 0.70 points to end at 17.84 and Viavarejo Unt (SA:VVAR11) was up 2.94% or 0.54 points to 18.92 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which lost 6.81% or 1.75 points to trade at 23.95 in late trade. Smiles Fidelidade SA (SA:SMLS3) declined 4.89% or 2.75 points to end at 53.45 and Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) shed 3.95% or 0.70 points to 17.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 258 to 206 and 27 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.09% to 31.79.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.03% or 0.40 to $1227.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.01% or 0.68 to hit $67.84 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.95% or 1.04 to trade at $108.08 .
USD/BRL was up 0.09% to 3.8422, while EUR/BRL fell 0.01% to 4.4752.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 94.83.
