Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Public Utilities, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.91%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA:PETR4), which rose 14.13% or 2.39 points to trade at 19.30 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) added 12.38% or 2.45 points to end at 22.24 and Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3) was up 6.04% or 2.85 points to 50.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3), which lost 3.96% or 1.78 points to trade at 43.22 in late trade. BB Seguridade Participacoes SA (SA:BBSE3) declined 3.05% or 0.82 points to end at 26.04 and JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) shed 3.38% or 0.32 points to 9.14.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 274 to 195 and 26 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 8.58% to 33.66 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.34% or 4.40 to $1299.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.53% or 1.04 to hit $66.84 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.38% or 0.46 to trade at $120.12 .
USD/BRL was down 0.25% to 3.7314, while EUR/BRL fell 0.84% to 4.3057.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 94.80.
