Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Electric Power, Real Estate and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which rose 5.49% or 0.63 points to trade at 12.11 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 5.42% or 0.75 points to end at 14.58 and EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) was up 4.38% or 0.41 points to 9.77 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which lost 3.15% or 1.66 points to trade at 51.00 in late trade. Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) declined 2.97% or 1.03 points to end at 33.65 and Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) shed 2.73% or 0.26 points to 9.27.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 232 to 159 and 37 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.35% to 33.90.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.34% or 4.20 to $1242.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.43% or 0.23 to hit $53.02 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.80% or 0.85 to trade at $106.05 .
USD/BRL was up 0.41% to 3.8685, while EUR/BRL rose 0.42% to 4.3878.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 97.015.
