Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA Pref (SA:GOLL4), which rose 6.04% or 1.43 points to trade at 25.12 at the close. Via Varejo SA (SA:VVAR3) added 5.05% or 0.22 points to end at 4.58 and MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA:MRVE3) was up 4.45% or 0.52 points to 12.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA:PETR4), which lost 3.80% or 0.87 points to trade at 22.00 in late trade. TAESA UNT N2 (SA:TAEE11) declined 3.60% or 0.85 points to end at 22.75 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) shed 3.38% or 0.88 points to 25.17.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 236 to 176 and 33 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.32% to 34.66.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.10% or 1.20 to $1253.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 7.19% or 3.61 to hit $46.59 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.70% or 0.70 to trade at $99.40 .
USD/BRL was up 0.33% to 3.9123, while EUR/BRL rose 0.43% to 4.4443.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.00% at 96.547.
