Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Electric Power, Financials and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.03% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were TAESA UNT N2 (SA:TAEE11), which rose 3.20% or 0.71 points to trade at 22.92 at the close. CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) added 2.19% or 0.18 points to end at 8.39 and Banco Santander Brasil SA Unit (SA:SANB11) was up 1.87% or 0.52 points to 28.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which lost 4.68% or 1.56 points to trade at 31.75 in late trade. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) declined 4.39% or 0.25 points to end at 5.45 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) shed 4.05% or 0.86 points to 20.37.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 269 to 179 and 28 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.60% to 29.07.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.50% or 6.36 to $1270.44 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.52% or 0.76 to hit $50.74 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 1.52% or 1.91 to trade at $127.38 .
USD/BRL was up 0.56% to 3.1530, while EUR/BRL rose 0.08% to 3.6896.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.53% at 93.80.
