Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3), which rose 4.99% or 2.15 points to trade at 45.25 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) added 4.15% or 1.20 points to end at 30.15 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) was up 3.12% or 1.64 points to 54.27 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA:ENBR3), which lost 10.90% or 1.70 points to trade at 13.90 in late trade. Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) declined 7.45% or 2.08 points to end at 25.85 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) shed 6.32% or 1.51 points to 22.38.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 288 to 168 and 25 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.28% to 27.87.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.55% or 7.20 to $1313.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.58% or 0.41 to hit $71.11 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.43% or 1.70 to trade at $117.58 .
USD/BRL was up 0.64% to 3.6222, while EUR/BRL rose 0.56% to 4.3240.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 92.50.
