Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which rose 4.06% or 0.485 points to trade at 12.425 at the close. MosEnrg (MCX:MSNG) added 2.97% or 0.0690 points to end at 2.3915 and Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) was up 2.48% or 7.10 points to 293.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which lost 4.01% or 30.50 points to trade at 731.00 in late trade. NMTP (MCX:NMTP) declined 3.41% or 0.2400 points to end at 6.7950 and SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) shed 2.66% or 4.00 points to 146.35.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 110 to 107 and 16 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.34% to 23.670.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.43% or 5.50 to $1262.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.94% or 0.47 to hit $49.33 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.31% or 0.69 to trade at $51.95 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.19% to 56.5950, while EUR/RUB rose 0.69% to 63.384.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 97.31.
