Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Software and Retail sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.98%, while the MDAX index fell 1.03%, and the TecDAX index fell 2.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which rose 1.70% or 2.25 points to trade at 134.85 at the close. Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) added 1.41% or 2.40 points to end at 172.40 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was up 0.78% or 0.660 points to 85.100 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which lost 4.83% or 0.985 points to trade at 19.400 in late trade. SAP SE (DE:SAPG) declined 3.58% or 3.440 points to end at 92.560 and Siemens AG (DE:SIEGn) shed 2.43% or 3.15 points to 126.25.
The top performers on the MDAX were K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which rose 4.03% to 24.260, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was up 0.83% to settle at 4.59 and Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which gained 0.57% to close at 15.07.
The worst performers were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was down 4.14% to 42.98 in late trade, Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which lost 3.67% to settle at 47.040 and Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which was down 3.34% to 68.200 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which rose 0.42% to 130.80, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was up 0.06% to settle at 53.320 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which lost 0.09% to close at 4.404.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 7.76% to 5.550 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which lost 6.74% to settle at 40.465 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 6.61% to 11.510 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 527 to 211 and 23 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 9.40% to 13.46.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.26% or 3.29 to $1268.11 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.96% or 0.44 to hit $46.27 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.77% or 0.37 to trade at $48.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.06% to 1.1202, while EUR/GBP rose 0.88% to 0.8855.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 97.23.
