Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Textile, Rubber and Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Everest Text (TW:1460), which rose 9.87% or 1.55 points to trade at 17.25 at the close. Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) added 9.84% or 1.80 points to end at 20.10 and Upc Tech (TW:1313) was up 9.81% or 1.05 points to 11.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shenmao (TW:3305), which lost 7.07% or 2.20 points to trade at 28.90 in late trade. Theil (TW:6271) declined 6.44% or 7.50 points to end at 109.00 and Wistron Neweb (TW:6285) shed 5.65% or 5.40 points to 90.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 473 to 263 and 129 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.09% or 0.55 to $50.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 1.06% or 0.55 to hit $52.23 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.02% or 0.25 to trade at $1262.65 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.39% to 31.542, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2131.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 97.91.
