Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Media and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.16%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.19%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which rose 1.74% or 3.700 points to trade at 215.950 at the close. Meanwhile, Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) added 1.67% or 1.450 points to end at 88.200 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) was up 1.38% or 1.080 points to 79.080 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which fell 3.81% or 0.490 points to trade at 12.375 at the close. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) declined 3.02% or 0.286 points to end at 9.174 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was down 1.68% or 0.425 points to 24.910.
The top performers on the MDAX were Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which rose 2.98% to 61.860, Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was up 1.72% to settle at 58.700 and Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which gained 1.69% to close at 51.720.
The worst performers were Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was down 5.14% to 34.700 in late trade, Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which lost 3.72% to settle at 33.385 and Duerr AG O.N. (DE:DUEG) which was down 3.54% to 78.170 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which rose 2.78% to 6.542, Drillisch AG O.N. (DE:DRIG) which was up 2.44% to settle at 46.195 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which gained 2.27% to close at 43.865.
The worst performers were Kontron AG O.N. (DE:KBCG) which was down 6.28% to 3.509 in late trade, QSC AG NA O.N. (DE:QSCG) which lost 5.25% to settle at 1.623 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which was down 4.71% to 8.104 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 366 to 332 and 25 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.19% to 21.08.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.14% or 1.50 to $1089.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.50% or 0.66 to hit $44.53 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.77% or 0.37 to trade at $48.29 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.57% to 1.0690, while EUR/GBP fell 0.50% to 0.7078.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 99.48.
