Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Insurance, Utilities and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 6.82%, while the MDAX index lost 4.54%, and the TecDAX index declined 3.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to trade at 196.800 at the close. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to end at 75.750 and Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (DE:HNKG) was down 0.33% or 0.350 points to 104.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 14.13% or 2.200 points to trade at 13.365 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 12.99% or 0.926 points to end at 6.201 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) shed 12.39% or 2.465 points to 17.425.
The top performers on the MDAX were DMG Mori Seiki AG (DE:GILG) which rose 0.09% to 42.180, Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which was down 0.12% to settle at 57.650 and Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which lost 0.28% to close at 107.350.
The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 11.14% to 50.090 in late trade, Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which lost 8.88% to settle at 27.770 and Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which was down 8.68% to 29.000 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which rose 1.47% to 34.195, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was unchanged 0.00% to settle at 27.355 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which lost 0.55% to close at 5.430.
The worst performers were GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was down 11.06% to 19.145 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which lost 8.44% to settle at 44.000 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was down 8.22% to 7.791 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 781 to 159 and 10 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 25.38.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 4.71% or 59.50 to $1322.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 4.59% or 2.30 to hit $47.81 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 4.64% or 2.36 to trade at $48.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 2.34% to 1.1117, while EUR/GBP rose 7.06% to 0.8191.
The US Dollar Index was up 2.42% at 95.59.
