Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.38% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO), which rose 9.94% or 1040.0 points to trade at 11500.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Polyus Gold International Ltd (MCX:PGIL) added 3.72% or 6.70 points to end at 186.80 and NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) was up 2.85% or 2.35 points to 84.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY), which fell 5.44% or 19.00 points to trade at 330.00 at the close. ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) declined 1.84% or 1.360 points to end at 72.520 and Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) was down 1.45% or 1.22 points to 82.86.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 102 to 100 and 11 ended unchanged.
Shares in Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO) rose to all time highs; rising 9.94% or 1040.0 to 11500.0.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.77% to 34.980.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.70% or 7.90 to $1115.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.75% or 1.19 to hit $42.11 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.44% or 0.72 to trade at $49.45 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.65% to 64.593, while EUR/RUB rose 0.32% to 71.970.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 96.51.
