Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.18%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3), which rose 4.86% or 2.30 points to trade at 49.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) added 1.65% or 0.21 points to end at 12.95 and EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) was up 1.44% or 0.10 points to 7.06 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Multiplan SA (SA:MULT3), which fell 4.71% or 2.13 points to trade at 43.12 at the close. Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) declined 3.99% or 0.95 points to end at 22.85 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was down 3.72% or 0.340 points to 8.810.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 161 to 129 and 10 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 6.49% to 46.13.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.00% or 11.20 to $1133.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 6.31% or 2.69 to hit $45.24 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.16% or 0.20 to trade at $124.17 .
USD/BRL was up 0.78% to 3.5823, while EUR/BRL rose 0.34% to 4.0086.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.38% at 96.11.
