Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Personal Goods, Media and General Retailers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 1.41%, while the SBF 120 index declined 1.47%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Technip (PA:TECF), which rose 1.54% or 0.73 points to trade at 48.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Total SA (PA:TOTF) added 0.70% or 0.32 points to end at 46.09 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) was up 0.66% or 0.10 points to 16.09 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which fell 4.86% or 1.97 points to trade at 38.60 at the close. LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PA:LVMH) declined 4.29% or 6.95 points to end at 154.95 and Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) was down 3.91% or 9.75 points to 239.65.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Technip (PA:TECF) which rose 1.54% to 48.45, Maurel Et Prom (PA:MAUP) which was up 1.32% to settle at 3.07 and Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which gained 0.99% to close at 9.49.
The worst performers were Numericable Pr (PA:NUME) which was down 7.80% to 37.965 in late trade, Zodiac Aerospace (PA:ZODC) which lost 7.70% to settle at 22.53 and Accor SA (PA:ACCP) which was down 4.86% to 38.60 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 532 to 187 and 66 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 11.46% to 24.68 a new 1-month high.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.78% or 8.30 to $1075.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.31% or 1.38 to hit $43.13 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 3.29% or 1.48 to trade at $46.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.0652, while EUR/GBP rose 0.68% to 0.7070.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 99.63.
