Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Consumption and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Equatorial Energia SA (SA:EQTL3), which rose 4.15% or 2.12 points to trade at 53.22 at the close. Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) added 3.35% or 0.69 points to end at 21.30 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was up 2.14% or 0.06 points to 2.87 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which lost 5.02% or 0.95 points to trade at 17.96 in late trade. Lojas Renner SA (SA:LREN3) declined 3.52% or 0.95 points to end at 26.05 and Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4) shed 3.21% or 0.29 points to 8.75.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 178 to 150 and 22 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.83% to 33.61.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.62% or 8.20 to $1323.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.49% or 1.10 to hit $43.09 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.83% or 1.19 to trade at $141.38 .
USD/BRL was up 0.84% to 3.2847, while EUR/BRL rose 0.97% to 3.6102.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 97.30.
