Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Textile and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Sintronic Tech (TW:3536), which rose 9.85% or 0.52 points to trade at 5.80 at the close. Chia Chang (TW:4942) added 9.83% or 2.00 points to end at 22.35 and Ta-I Tech (TW:2478) was up 9.83% or 1.70 points to 19.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Inventec Corp (TW:2356), which lost 8.83% or 2.15 points to trade at 22.20 in late trade. Eclat Textile (TW:1476) declined 8.33% or 38.50 points to end at 423.50 and Roo Hsing (TW:4414) shed 7.64% or 1.85 points to 22.35.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 464 to 303 and 83 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.04% or 0.43 to $41.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.98% or 0.41 to hit $41.38 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 1.02% or 12.70 to trade at $1235.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.12% to 32.483, while TWD/CNY fell 0.10% to 0.2000.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 95.78.
