Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Oil & Gas and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.59% to hit a new 6-months low, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.45%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which rose 2.21% or 0.80 points to trade at 37.02 at the close. Meanwhile, Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA) added 2.18% or 0.144 points to end at 6.764 and Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) was up 1.30% or 0.35 points to 27.63 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which fell 4.07% or 3.68 points to trade at 86.63 at the close. Technip (PA:TECF) declined 3.95% or 1.58 points to end at 38.54 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) was down 3.75% or 1.46 points to 37.35.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which rose 3.38% to 24.470, Accor SA (PA:ACCP) which was up 2.21% to settle at 37.02 and Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA) which gained 2.18% to close at 6.764.
The worst performers were Maurel Et Prom (PA:MAUP) which was down 4.56% to 2.51 in late trade, CNP Assurances (PA:CNPP) which lost 4.40% to settle at 10.975 and STMicroelectronics (PA:STM) which was down 4.29% to 5.580 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 432 to 294 and 53 ended unchanged.
Shares in Technip (PA:TECF) fell to 5-year lows; down 3.95% or 1.58 to 38.54. Shares in Total SA (PA:TOTF) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.75% or 1.46 to 37.35. Shares in Maurel Et Prom (PA:MAUP) fell to 5-year lows; falling 4.56% or 0.12 to 2.51. Shares in CNP Assurances (PA:CNPP) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.40% or 0.505 to 10.975. Shares in STMicroelectronics (PA:STM) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.29% or 0.250 to 5.580.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 4.25% to 29.75 a new 3-months high.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.61% or 6.80 to $1101.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.69% or 0.23 to hit $33.50 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.49% or 0.17 to trade at $33.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.41% to 1.0886, while EUR/GBP rose 0.23% to 0.7498.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.42% at 98.71.
