Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Construction and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.43%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.63%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.05%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 2.72% or 0.485 points to trade at 18.345 at the close. Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) added 1.44% or 1.010 points to end at 71.180 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) was up 1.24% or 1.070 points to 87.330 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which lost 1.10% or 0.34 points to trade at 30.05 in late trade. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) declined 0.80% or 0.130 points to end at 16.190 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) shed 0.76% or 0.560 points to 73.190.

The top performers on the MDAX were Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which rose 3.48% to 26.905, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was up 3.31% to settle at 37.150 and Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which gained 3.02% to close at 56.35.

The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 1.28% to 61.700 in late trade, Gerresheimer AG (BS:GXId) which lost 0.90% to settle at 74.080 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which was down 0.58% to 29.845 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Alix Resources Corp (F:37N2) which rose 11.43% to 0.039, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was up 8.02% to settle at 100.250 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which gained 2.29% to close at 34.88.

The worst performers were Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was down 1.79% to 178.150 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which lost 1.71% to settle at 23.835 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 1.04% to 47.955 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 446 to 316 and 24 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.69% to 15.75.

In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.26% or 3.15 to $1212.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.40% or 0.74 to hit $53.49 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.91% or 0.50 to trade at $55.73 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.0754, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8581.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 100.06.
