Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Insurance and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.55%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.44%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which rose 3.25% or 0.425 points to trade at 13.510 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 1.89% or 0.280 points to end at 15.080 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) was up 1.75% or 0.230 points to 13.385 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which lost 2.30% or 0.990 points to trade at 42.115 in late trade. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) declined 0.40% or 0.500 points to end at 123.100 and Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) shed 0.35% or 0.450 points to 127.450.
The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which rose 2.76% to 5.40, Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which was up 2.21% to settle at 46.39 and Duerr AG O.N. (DE:DUEG) which gained 2.09% to close at 68.900.
The worst performers were Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was down 1.91% to 29.000 in late trade, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which lost 1.80% to settle at 43.040 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 1.30% to 45.780 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Drillisch AG O.N. (DE:DRIG) which rose 4.56% to 37.945, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was up 2.37% to settle at 24.16 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 2.33% to close at 27.660.
The worst performers were Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 1.81% to 45.810 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which lost 1.74% to settle at 33.385 and Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was down 1.73% to 6.864 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 523 to 340 and 34 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 27.12.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.18% or 2.35 to $1270.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.42% or 0.71 to hit $49.14 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.44% or 0.73 to trade at $49.89 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.48% to 1.1295, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.7692.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.36% at 93.82.
