Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumption, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.25%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Oi SA (SA:OIBR3), which rose 8.82% or 0.18 points to trade at 2.22 at the close. Meanwhile, Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) added 6.77% or 0.40 points to end at 6.31 and Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) was up 6.76% or 1.96 points to 30.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which fell 2.34% or 0.33 points to trade at 13.80 at the close. MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA:MRVE3) declined 2.31% or 0.21 points to end at 8.89 and Cia Hering (SA:HGTX3) was down 2.21% or 0.28 points to 12.41.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 178 to 106 and 29 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.03% to 53.37.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.65% or 8.10 to $1239.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 10.47% or 2.75 to hit $28.95 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 2.52% or 2.85 to trade at $115.88 .
USD/BRL was up 0.20% to 4.0027, while EUR/BRL fell 0.40% to 4.5040.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.38% at 96.00.
