Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , Plastic and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.68%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Asmedia (TW:5269), which rose 10.00% or 19.50 points to trade at 214.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Nuvoton (TW:4919) added 10.00% or 3.20 points to end at 35.20 and Green Energy (TW:3519) was up 10.00% or 2.20 points to 24.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were New Asia Const (TW:2516), which fell 5.92% or 0.39 points to trade at 6.20 at the close. Makalot (TW:1477) declined 4.22% or 9.50 points to end at 215.50 and Taisol (TW:3338) was down 3.99% or 1.05 points to 25.25.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 494 to 343 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in New Asia Const (TW:2516) fell to 3-years lows; falling 5.92% or 0.39 to 6.20. Shares in Nuvoton (TW:4919) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 10.00% or 3.20 to 35.20. Shares in Green Energy (TW:3519) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 10.00% or 2.20 to 24.20.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.38% or 0.15 to $41.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.35% or 0.15 to hit $43.84 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.01% or 0.10 to trade at $1061.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.75% to 32.682, while TWD/CNY fell 0.15% to 0.2020.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 98.01.
