Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.64%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology, Food & Beverages and Software sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.64%, while the MDAX index gained 2.42%, and the TecDAX index climbed 2.77%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which rose 3.59% or 2.110 points to trade at 60.940 at the close. Meanwhile, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 3.58% or 0.425 points to end at 12.280 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) was up 3.42% or 2.810 points to 85.080 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which fell 3.23% or 0.475 points to trade at 14.235 at the close. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) declined 2.04% or 0.196 points to end at 9.425 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was down 1.61% or 1.750 points to 106.900.

The top performers on the MDAX were Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which rose 5.64% to 65.600, Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) which was up 4.38% to settle at 28.01 and Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which gained 4.04% to close at 10.825.

The worst performers were Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which was down 10.44% to 19.680 in late trade, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which lost 1.48% to settle at 37.540 and Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was down 0.80% to 32.105 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which rose 8.07% to 29.720, Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was up 4.61% to settle at 40.415 and Drillisch AG O.N. (DE:DRIG) which gained 4.31% to close at 37.750.

The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 7.22% to 45.010 in late trade, LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which lost 0.59% to settle at 6.760 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was down 0.42% to 3.319 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 510 to 166 and 41 ended unchanged.

Shares in Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.23% or 0.475 to 14.235. Shares in Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) rose to 5-year highs; up 5.64% or 3.500 to 65.600. Shares in Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) fell to 52-week lows; down 1.48% or 0.565 to 37.540.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 27.39.

Gold for February delivery was up 0.08% or 0.90 to $1116.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.24% or 0.08 to hit $33.30 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 2.01% or 0.70 to trade at $35.50 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 1.01% to 1.0830, while EUR/GBP rose 0.21% to 0.7634.

The US Dollar Index was up 1.10% at 99.71.
