Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Food & Beverages and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.93%, while the MDAX index added 1.88%, and the TecDAX index added 2.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 4.74% or 0.575 points to trade at 12.705 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) added 4.52% or 3.320 points to end at 76.750 and Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (DE:DB1Gn) was up 4.30% or 3.040 points to 73.670 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (DE:HNKG), which lost 0.43% or 0.450 points to trade at 105.400 in late trade. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) declined 0.33% or 0.10 points to end at 32.14 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) 0.00% or 0.000 points to 166.600.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which rose 4.56% to 8.85, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was up 4.28% to settle at 48.725 and STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which gained 3.86% to close at 43.900.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which was down 5.09% to 23.145 in late trade, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which lost 3.59% to settle at 17.860 and Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which was down 0.83% to 43.11 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which rose 6.77% to 35.495, Jenoptik AG O.N. (DE:JENG) which was up 6.52% to settle at 14.045 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 5.17% to close at 3.664.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 4.38% to 13.850 in late trade, STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which lost 0.31% to settle at 51.990 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was down 0.26% to 17.560 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 703 to 172 and 23 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 25.38.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.53% or 7.05 to $1317.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.75% or 0.81 to hit $47.14 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.59% or 0.76 to trade at $48.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.1051, while EUR/GBP fell 0.31% to 0.8309.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.17% at 96.39.
