Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Glass, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Nan Ya Pcb Cor (TW:8046), which rose 10.00% or 2.65 points to trade at 29.15 at the close. Sunspring Meta (TW:2062) added 9.98% or 4.10 points to end at 45.20 and Hai Kwang (TW:2038) was up 9.98% or 0.82 points to 9.04 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Topoint Tech (TW:8021), which lost 10.00% or 2.90 points to trade at 26.10 in late trade. Inventec Besta (TW:8201) declined 10.00% or 2.05 points to end at 18.45 and Y.C.C. (TW:1339) shed 9.97% or 4.80 points to 43.35.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 401 to 376 and 98 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.11% or 0.06 to $53.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.05% or 0.03 to hit $55.83 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.68% or 8.75 to trade at $1286.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.87% to 30.276, while TWD/CNY fell 0.18% to 0.2266.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 100.07.
