Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Power, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.33%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 3.29% or 1.75 points to trade at 55.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) added 2.91% or 58.5 points to end at 2070.0 and Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO) was up 2.60% or 320.0 points to 12620.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI), which fell 3.14% or 0.0146 points to trade at 0.4504 at the close. Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK) declined 2.85% or 1.65 points to end at 56.20 and Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) was down 2.47% or 0.0335 points to 1.3205.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 113 to 112 and 7 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.11% to 44.710 a new 3-months high.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.55% or 6.00 to $1091.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.23% or 0.07 to hit $30.51 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.52% or 0.47 to trade at $30.48 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.40% to 76.244, while EUR/RUB fell 0.20% to 82.690.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 99.10.
