Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Vale SA (SA:VALE3), which rose 2.73% or 0.48 points to trade at 18.09 at the close. Meanwhile, Vale SA (SA:VALE5) added 2.72% or 0.39 points to end at 14.74 and BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA:BRML3) was up 2.68% or 0.30 points to 11.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3), which fell 5.15% or 0.93 points to trade at 17.12 at the close. ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) declined 4.33% or 0.34 points to end at 7.51 and EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA:ENBR3) was down 4.17% or 0.50 points to 11.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 158 to 151 and 7 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.35% to 48.22.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.91% or 10.70 to $1166.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.31% or 1.07 to hit $45.22 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 2.85% or 3.55 to trade at $120.83 .
USD/BRL was up 0.86% to 3.9418, while EUR/BRL rose 0.87% to 4.4708.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 95.07.
