Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Mining and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 fell 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Coca Cola HBC AG (LONDON:CCH), which rose 7.33% or 97.0 points to trade at 1420.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Tui AG (LONDON:TUIT) added 6.60% or 69.00 points to end at 1114.00 and London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LONDON:LSE) was up 3.49% or 88.00 points to 2611.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were G4S PLC (LONDON:GFS), which fell 5.37% or 14.50 points to trade at 255.40 at the close. Rio Tinto PLC (LONDON:RIO) declined 3.74% or 95.50 points to end at 2459.00 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LONDON:RRS) was down 3.17% or 132.00 points to 4034.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1695 to 881 and 450 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.70% or 7.90 to $1115.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.45% or 1.06 to hit $42.24 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.41% or 0.71 to trade at $49.47 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.03% to 1.5609, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.7139.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.17% at 96.44.
