Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Biotech & Medical Care, Textile and Chemical/Bio & Medical care sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.41%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Inotera Memo (TW:3474), which rose 10.00% or 2.30 points to trade at 25.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Siliconware (TW:2325) added 9.99% or 4.55 points to end at 50.10 and Apex Medical (TW:4106) was up 9.94% or 3.50 points to 38.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yu Foung Intl (TW:1438), which fell 6.21% or 0.30 points to trade at 4.53 at the close. U-Tech (TW:3050) declined 5.04% or 0.47 points to end at 8.86 and Yem Chio (TW:4306) was down 4.10% or 0.50 points to 11.70.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 599 to 242 and 4 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.21% or 0.07 to $36.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.13% or 0.05 to hit $38.05 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.04% or 0.40 to trade at $1063.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.97% to 32.742, while TWD/CNY rose 0.36% to 0.1972.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.29% at 97.45.
