Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, Healthcare and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 3.16%, while the SBF 120 index gained 2.98%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 5.55% or 0.19 points to trade at 3.56 at the close. Meanwhile, Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) added 5.34% or 3.99 points to end at 78.72 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) was up 4.33% or 5.65 points to 136.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY), which fell 1.11% or 0.39 points to trade at 34.77 at the close. Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) added 0.48% or 0.105 points to end at 21.870 and Legrand SA (PA:LEGD) was up 0.87% or 0.45 points to 52.28.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Plastic Omnium (PA:PLOF) which rose 8.91% to 27.50, Faurecia (PA:EPED) which was up 6.94% to settle at 35.30 and Numericable Pr (PA:NUME) which gained 6.88% to close at 35.430.
The worst performers were Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) which was down 1.11% to 34.77 in late trade, GTT (PA:GTT) which lost 0.86% to settle at 41.16 and Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 0.85% to 8.03 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 516 to 211 and 52 ended unchanged.
Shares in GTT (PA:GTT) fell to all time lows; losing 0.86% or 0.35 to 41.16.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 10.47% to 26.63.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.13% or 1.40 to $1064.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.91% or 1.42 to hit $37.73 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 3.66% or 1.40 to trade at $39.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.74% to 1.0912, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.7249.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.56% at 98.28.
