India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.75%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Capital Goods and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.75%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.65%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB), which rose 5.62% or 9.55 points to trade at 179.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 3.40% or 2.55 points to end at 77.65 and Punjab National Bank (NS:PNBK) was up 3.11% or 4.35 points to 144.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA), which fell 1.94% or 2.85 points to trade at 144.00 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd . (NS:TAMO) declined 1.59% or 6.75 points to end at 417.65 and Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) was down 1.28% or 23.45 points to 1812.70.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which rose 3.26% to 77.50, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 2.80% to settle at 249.55 and Larsen & Toubro Limited (BO:LART) which gained 2.23% to close at 1363.80.

The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which was down 1.32% to 417.55 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 0.88% to settle at 979.05 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 0.68% to 4580.10 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 750 to 713 and 10 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 430 rose and 354 declined, while 18 ended unchanged.

The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.25% to 16.7300.

Gold for December delivery was down 0.48% or 5.10 to $1064.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.29% or 0.98 to hit $42.05 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.13% or 0.52 to trade at $44.95 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.18% to 66.736, while EUR/INR rose 0.09% to 70.6790.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 100.06.
