Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Retail, Consumer & Cyclical and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.13%, while the MDAX index gained 0.39%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p), which rose 1.32% or 1.60 points to trade at 123.20 at the close. Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) added 0.94% or 1.65 points to end at 177.45 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) was up 0.92% or 0.760 points to 83.390 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which lost 1.89% or 0.425 points to trade at 22.035 in late trade. Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) declined 1.08% or 0.940 points to end at 86.150 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) shed 1.03% or 0.9000 points to 86.5900.
The top performers on the MDAX were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which rose 3.35% to 39.96, Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was up 2.13% to settle at 36.620 and Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which gained 2.05% to close at 107.150.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was down 3.33% to 31.740 in late trade, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which lost 1.95% to settle at 98.20 and Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which was down 1.76% to 15.37 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which rose 2.68% to 10.330, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was up 2.33% to settle at 12.750 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which gained 1.91% to close at 81.080.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was down 4.75% to 3.608 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 3.70% to settle at 63.530 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 3.38% to 36.32 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 412 to 306 and 25 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.82% to 19.98.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.14% or 1.80 to $1276.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.51% or 0.27 to hit $53.13 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.68% or 0.38 to trade at $55.85 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.06% to 1.0610, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.8489.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 100.59.
