Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3), which rose 5.01% or 0.46 points to trade at 9.65 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 4.31% or 0.85 points to end at 20.56 and WEG SA (SA:WEGE3) was up 3.73% or 0.63 points to 17.54 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which lost 2.45% or 0.33 points to trade at 13.12 in late trade. Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) declined 2.15% or 1.28 points to end at 58.12 and Banco Bradesco SA (SA:BBDC3) shed 2.02% or 0.66 points to 31.97.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 236 to 132 and 34 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.73% to 31.39.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.35% or 4.40 to $1249.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.31% or 0.17 to hit $53.84 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 1.93% or 2.75 to trade at $145.18 .
USD/BRL was down 0.48% to 3.0938, while EUR/BRL fell 0.79% to 3.2623.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 101.72.
