Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Basic Materials and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.72%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 5.88% or 0.05 points to trade at 0.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Cia Hering (SA:HGTX3) added 4.75% or 0.59 points to end at 13.00 and CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) was up 3.72% or 0.45 points to 12.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3), which fell 7.36% or 0.31 points to trade at 3.90 at the close. Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) declined 3.04% or 0.94 points to end at 30.01 and WEG SA (SA:WEGE3) was down 2.30% or 0.33 points to 14.02.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 171 to 104 and 25 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.51% to 53.10.
Gold for April delivery was down 2.40% or 29.80 to $1209.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.12% or 0.33 to hit $29.77 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $117.50 .
USD/BRL was down 0.10% to 3.9996, while EUR/BRL fell 1.06% to 4.4590.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.79% at 96.75.
