Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Communication and Internet sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Everspring Ind (TW:2390), which rose 9.98% or 2.45 points to trade at 27.00 at the close. Meanwhile, 104 Corporatio (TW:3130) added 9.93% or 14.00 points to end at 155.00 and Pelican (TW:2642) was up 9.87% or 3.05 points to 33.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Wei Chih Steel (TW:2028), which fell 7.53% or 0.11 points to trade at 1.35 at the close. Hsin Kao Gas (TW:9931) declined 5.55% or 1.85 points to end at 31.50 and Everest Text (TW:1460) was down 5.08% or 0.80 points to 14.95.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 483 to 360 and 1 ended unchanged.
Shares in Wei Chih Steel (TW:2028) fell to all time lows; down 7.53% or 0.11 to 1.35.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.79% or 0.41 to $51.81 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.57% or 0.33 to hit $57.45 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.10% or 1.20 to trade at $1146.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.58% to 31.087, while TWD/CNY fell 0.10% to 0.1986.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 97.35.
