Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Textile and Computers & Peripherals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were China Electric (TW:1611), which rose 9.99% or 0.77 points to trade at 8.48 at the close. Candmark (TW:5259) added 9.92% or 0.12 points to end at 1.33 and Genesis Photon (TW:3383) was up 9.87% or 0.47 points to 5.23 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418), which lost 5.33% or 0.24 points to trade at 4.26 in late trade. Silergy (TW:6415) declined 4.25% or 15.00 points to end at 338.00 and Everfocus Elec (TW:5484) shed 3.81% or 0.210 points to 5.300.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 357 to 336 and 152 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.84% or 0.42 to $50.27 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.65% or 0.33 to hit $50.95 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.47% or 6.00 to trade at $1266.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.22% to 32.184, while TWD/CNY rose 0.10% to 0.2039.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 93.98.
